James R. Barker is the professor of Organizational Theory and Strategy in the Department of Strategy and Human Resource Management at the Waikato Management School, Waikato University, Hamilton, New Zealand,[1] and editor-in-chief of Management Communication Quarterly.[2]
Barker received his doctorate from the University of Colorado, his master's degree from Purdue University, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Central Arkansas. He has previously held faculty positions at Marquette University, the University of New Mexico, and the U.S. Air Force Academy. During his tenure at the Air Force Academy, Professor Barker served as the chair of the Academy's Institutional Review Board and President of its Senior Faculty Forum. Professor Barker also served in the US military and worked as as operations and sales manager for Schneider National Inc., a large U.S. transportation company. At his current position with the Waikato Management School, Barker's responsibilities include co-leading the School's Socially and Culturally Sustainable Bio-Technology project.
